Place your telescope on an equatorial head or with bearings on a Dob mount. Designed to fit the outer circumference of your OTA. Heavy duty rings can be drilled to match your mounting plate hole pattern.

Rotating Rings.

 Rotating rings use our heavy duty clamshell design. Inside two tube-fitting rings inside are set into each end, secured with three guides to contain the inner rings. These examples are of a rotating ring kit for an 8" telescope in process of being manufactured.

On the inside edge of the guides are holes which when finished have nylon screws that loosen to allow rotation or tightened and secure the inner rings against the outer clamshell to prevent rotation. Loosen to rotate, tighten to secure. Bottom plate is 4" width and can be drilled to mate to your dovetail plate.

Clamshell opens horizontally, is attached on one side by a heavy duty anodized aluminum hinge, and secured on the opposite side with a 2-1/2" long thumbscrew from one board into mating adjacent board, allowing the entire OTA inside the inner rings to be removed.

Kit: All parts included, wooden parts are rough sanded with 80 grit, holes pre-drilled. All parts dry-fitted before shipping. Kits may be shipped worldwide. What you'll need: Philips screwdriver, sandpaper, wood glue, adhesive backed felt to line inside of rings.

Finished: Arrive ready to use except for adhesive back felt to line inside edge of rings. We can advise on procuring..

CNC precision cut 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood. Anodized heavy duty aluminum piano hinge. Steel wood screws. Clamshells open and close using a 2-1/4" thumb screw that passes through one of the top boards into a 1/4-20 brass threaded insert in the abutting board.
