NEWEST IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Round ground boards replace the triangular ones. Teflon azimuth pads now located directly over the feet.
  • Solid mount side and front boards inset into the bottom board of the rocker box for added strength.
  • Solid mount kits have rocker box tongue and groove joints; just glue, slip in, secure, let dry, done.
  • Collapsible mounts previous 45 degree front corner joint changed to 90 degree interface for best rigidity.

Clamshell Rings
  • Kit - $195

  • Standard inside dimensions available; 8", 10", 12".
  • Have a special size? We will design and cut it.
  • Ebony star laminate included with bearings.
  • Kit is easy to assemble with glue and Phillips screwdriver.

Altitude Bearings
  • Bearings are 0.683" thick, with 0.125" thick and 0.25" high outer lip.
  • Comes with ebony star laminate.
  • Standard sizes are 8", 10" and 12" outside diameter. Or tell us what you need.
  • New design upcoming to attach directly to curved outside tube walls.

Materials
  • Wood:  3/4" Birch Plywood - 11 ply, light weight, excellent rigidity.
              Many commercial telescope bases use heavy, porous particle board, and inferior bearing materials.
  • Bearing Surfaces: Ebony star and virgin Teflon.
  • Finish: Multiple sprayed coats of satin polymer finish.
  • Kits include all parts for assembly except glue.
  • Kits are rough sanded. You finish with fine sanding, glue, paint/stain.
